hallstatt
- 8th June 2003

My trip to Hallstatt. Hallstatt exists since 4500 years. The name of the town comes from the Greek word "hals" which means "salt". Hallstatt is an interesting little village very close to the Lake Hallstatt. From the center of the village I went up to the Salzberg. When you reached the top of the Salzberg you are able to visit the salt mine with a tourist guide. If you don't like hiking you can also go up with a railway :)
The guided tour in the salt mine was quite interesting. You must put
on special clothes before you enter the mine. You see a movie and special
effects in the salt mine. And there is a wooden slide on which you get
down.
